What Can and Can't Go In the Bin

Almost everything from a home cleanout, renovation or re-roof is fair game. The short prohibited list below exists because disposal facilities refuse those items or charge contamination fees — knowing it in advance keeps your flat rate flat.

Accepted in the bin

  • Household junk, furniture, mattresses and box springs
  • Renovation debris: drywall, lumber, trim, cabinetry, flooring
  • Bathroom and kitchen tear-outs including tile and countertops
  • Asphalt roofing shingles and underlay
  • Decking, fencing and treated lumber
  • Appliances (fridges and A/C units need refrigerant handling — tell us first)
  • Yard waste, branches, sod and landscaping debris
  • Carpet, underpad and general construction site cleanup
  • Clean fill — concrete, brick, block and soil (keep it separated)

Not accepted

  • Paint, solvents, fuels, oils and other liquid chemicals
  • Propane tanks, pressurized cylinders and fire extinguishers
  • Asbestos, vermiculite insulation and any suspected hazardous material
  • Car and marine batteries
  • Tires and automotive fluids
  • Medical or biohazard waste
  • Contaminated soil
  • Loose animal waste or food waste in bulk

Items that need a heads-up

Mixed loads with clean fill

Concrete, brick and soil are priced and disposed of differently from mixed waste. Keeping them separated protects your flat rate — mixing them can force the whole load to be sorted at the facility.

Refrigerant appliances

Fridges, freezers, A/C units and dehumidifiers need certified refrigerant removal before disposal. Mention them when you book so we can route the load correctly.

Electronics

Most e-waste has a free municipal or retailer drop-off in the GTA. Tell us what you have and we'll say whether it belongs in the bin or is cheaper to divert.
